The spa, which reopened last year after a major £15 million refurbishment, is the cherry on the cake of this immensely relaxing and impressive hotel – a perfect blend of past and present.
With a gym, stunning infinity pool and wild-swimming pool and 14 treatment rooms, it takes relaxation to jaw-dropping levels. (And it was almost fully open when this went to press, except for the thermal cabins.) The hotel is nestled in 93 acres of stunning grounds (including the largest single-stem rhododendron bush in the UK) created by an eminent 18th century botanist.
Rooms are spacious yet cosy – ours had stone walls and stunning views over the South Downs. Several are even doggy-friendly.
