But earlier this week, an independent arbitration panel upheld a claim from the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) that the EFL was in breach of the constitution of the Professional Football Negotiating and Consultative Committee (PFNCC) by introducing the caps.

It means they have now been withdrawn and the EFL has since discussed the matter of financial controls and implications linked to this outcome at meetings with clubs this week.

Wanderers boss Evatt is pleased that the salary caps in their current form have been removed, but stressed he is not against them completely and that they have served a purpose when clubs' finances have been put under pressure due to the coronaviurs pandemic..
