Bollywood singer Bappi Lahiri dies aged 69 after suffering with breathing condition

Bollywood legend Bappi Lahiri has died at the age of 69 after suffering complications with a breathing condition.The Indian icon was known as the "King of Bollywood Disco" thanks to his skills in singing and music composition.The legend was often referred to as "Bappi Da" and known for his striking individual fashion sense, which included adorning himself with several heavy gold chains around his neck which he wore for luck.

Bappi - who was credited with bringing disco music to life in India - had "multiple health issues" at the time of his death at CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai late on Tuesday according to the health facility director Deepak Namjoshi.He had contracted and covered from Covid-19 last year, but his health had deteriorated in 2022 with him spending the last month in hospital.He is believed to have died from obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that hinders breathing ability whilst the sufferer is sleeping.Bappi was briefly discharged from the hospital on Monday (February 14), but was readmitted on Tuesday when his health deteriorated further.Sharing their grief his family call his death a "deeply sad moment" for us.
