Two brothers accused of the biggest Bitcoin con in history bought themselves citizenship on Pacific island Vanuatu months before disappearing.
Raees Cajee, 21 and Ameer Cajee, 18, told investors their company, Africrypt, had been hacked and all its money stolen, according to The Sun.
They then left South Africa and their location is not known. Police said the brothers sold their Lamborghini Huracan, a luxury suite at a hotel, and a rented apartment in Durban, before leaving.
They sent investors an email asking them not to tell the authorities about the hacking as this would delay efforts to get the money back.
