New US President Joe Biden will not only preside over the most powerful nation on Earth but will also see a huge boost to his wallet - as he stands to pocket a $400,000 a year salary.

The huge sum, representing about £294,000, towers over UK PM Boris Johnson's wages of £150,402 a year. With decades of experience behind him, Joe Biden has gone from the “poorest man in Congress” to a flushed statesman at the top of the political tree.

As president of the United States, Biden will earn $400,000 annually, compared to Johnson's prime ministerial wage of just over £150,000.
