The property went up in a blaze and 22 firefighters responded to the scene in the Garden District area to try to get it under control.
It was reported to be fully extinguished two hours later and thankfully no one was injured following the horrific scenes. According to Nola.com, the New Orleans Fire Department said it learned of the fire after one of the smoke alarms in the home was activated at approximately 6:20pm.
And it says that the police officers also received a report of a suspicious person nearby at the same time that they looked into and determined the suspicious-person call was connected
