Guardiola made nine changes to his side at West Ham, with just Kyle Walker and Ilkay Gundogan keeping their places from the win at Brighton in the Premier League last weekend.
Walker would be replaced at half-time at the London Stadium in a pre-planned move, while Gundogan was substituted with 15 minutes remaining.
However, the players coming in at West Ham struggled to show Guardiola why they are deserving of more regular playing time, so he might well revert to the majority of the starting XI that were so impressive on the south coast last weekend.
