VIEWERS of BBC Breakfast have raged at bosses over their report on egg shortages, alleging it is causing people to panic buy.

This morning, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt were presenting a report on the current egg shortage and how it is affecting Britain and its supermarkets.

Introducing the pre-packaged report, host Naga said: "So, there is a shortage of eggs on our supermarket shelves and we are being told it is only temporary that's according to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs secretary Therese Coffey." Charlie added: "It follows a decision by Asda and Lidl to limit the number of eggs customers can buy after supplies were affected by the outbreak of Avian flu." During the report, issues such as the rising price of feed and fuel were among the main concerns of egg suppliers.

This is on top of the 113 confirmed cases of Avian flu that have occurred since the start of last month.
