BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty took a very cheeky swipe at Carol Kirkwood's popularity live on-air. The presenter, 47, insinuated that the meteorologist had not proved popular by the general public in recent weeks, due to the record breaking heatwave around the country.

Carol told viewers about the possibility of showers coming soon, but Naga was quick to take a swipe. She said: "That's the thing though isn't it Carol, when you finally do get some splodges of rain on your graphic you'll be ever so popular." Laughing off the host's comments, Carol bit back with: "I'm going to be ever so pleased as well." She added: "If you take into account all the problems that farmers and growers have but I look at my own garden and it's like the Gobi desert, the soil is like sand, it's really powdery and lawn is brown." Naga interrupted: "You'll work your magic Carol I know you will."
