BBC Breakfast in major format shake-up as Sally Nugent presents show alone in studio

BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent was forced to present the latest edition of the morning show alone in the studio. Presenter Jon Kay welcomed viewers to Tuesday's show (June 7) standing outside Number 10 Downing Street following the news that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has survived a confidence vote.

He explained that while he was presenting segments of the programme on location, Sally was in the studio to discuss the other news headlines.

It comes just days after Sally, 50, was replaced on the show by Nina Warhurst.Sally started presenting the programme earlier this year alongside Dan Walker.The journalist hosts the show Monday to Wednesday.Since Dan's departure last month, she has been joined by Jon on the red sofa.However, she was replaced by co-star Nina on May 30.Nina, 41, is a business and consumer presenter on BBC Breakfast.Back in 2011, Sally began co-hosting the breakfast show as a freelancer.Sally started presenting the show permanently in February after taking over from Louise Minchin as a main host.The latest shake-up comes days after Sally's co-host Dan bid farewell to the show after six years.The 44-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing star left the BBC a new role at Channel 5.He first joined BBC Breakfast in 2016.Speaking during his final episode last month, Dan told viewers it had been "a real privilege" to present the morning show as he bowed out of the show after six years.He said: "It's always been my dream to do a job like this.

It feels a bit surreal I won't be sitting on the sofa anymore," he said on Tuesday's show.Former co-host Louise made a surprise return to wave him off.She told him: "It's very emotional to be here.
