THE return of The Great British Bake Off saw a string of half-baked attempts at celebrity cakes. Singers Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie and actress Lupita Nyong’o were among the contestants’ efforts in tonight’s first show.
But the results varied enormously, leaving judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and presenters Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas in hysterics at some of the dodgy busts.
Music teacher Rowan Williams, 55, of Worcestershire, produced a stunning recreation of 18th-century French queen Marie Antoinette.
But Paul, 54, and Prue, 80, were bewildered by 61-year-old Linda Rayfield’s take on Jamming singer Bob Marley. A cake of David Bowie as Aladdin Sane also fell flat.
