Declan Donnelly’s wife Ali Astall cut a casual figure as she stepped out in London this week, following her husband’s BAFTA win on Sunday night. Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, known, of course, as Ant & Dec, won the award for best entertainment for their hit ITV show, Saturday Night Takeaway, at the BAFTA TV Awards 2022 on Sunday night. Ali, 43, who married Dec, 46, in 2015, wasn’t present at the awards with her husband and his longtime presenting partner, Ant, 46, although Ant’s partner Anne-Marie Corbett was in attendance.

THE BAFTA TV Awards were back to their glamorous best – with telly’s beautiful people stepping on to the red carpet for the first time since Covid sent the event online. But behind the scenes, there has been controversy over how Channel 4’s brave and hugely popular HIV drama It’s A Sin failed to scoop a single gong.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have been gracing our television screens for decades and it is hard to imagine one without the other.Over the years, the dynamic Geordie duo has accumulated a loyal fanbase after first being cast for CBBC's show Byker Grove in 1989 as PJ and Duncan.The two always seemed inseparable but not many know they actually didn't get along at first.Speaking on the Jonathan Ross show in 2006, Dec said: "We didn't particularly like each other at first, I thought he was miserable.”"We've rowed a few times - we're quite competitive," Ant added. Jodie Comer had the night of her life on Sunday as she took home the Leading Actress gong at the BAFTA TV Awards in London.The 29-year-old actress beat the likes of Mare of Easttown star Kate Winslet and It’s a Sin’s Lydia West to win for her role in the Channel 4 Covid-set drama Help. Speaking to reporters ahead of accepting her award, the actress had admitted she was "very nervous" about the possibility of taking to the stage to receive a BAFTA. In her acceptance speech, Jodie paid tribute to Channel 4 for "believing in the script from the very beginning" before going onto thank the carers who helped those involved in the show with their research, saying they were "incredibly gracious" with their time.

Stephen Graham expressed his shock at BBC prison drama Time winning a BAFTA TV Award for Best Mini Series, beating popular Channel 4 show It’s A Sin, Landscapers and Stephen. The three-part series, starring the Liverpool actor alongside Sean Bean, depicted a prison officer and prisoner navigating life inside. When prison guard Eric McNally (Graham) is singled out by a dangerous inmate, he must put his principles and family on the line.

BBC BAFTA viewers have taken to Twitter to express confusion over a sound 'glitch' on the BBC.Fans noticed that the sound was muted during clips of Channel 4's It's A Sin, and they were divided over the reasons why. Viewers were torn over whether the sound was muted on purpose, or if it was a technical issue by the broadcaster.One user tweeted: "Why has the sound gone off on It's a sin a coincidence? It’s happened twice so far??"Another penned: "@BAFTA Get the #BBC to sort the sound out - someone needs to press a few buttons!"A third asked: "Does anybody else’s sound keep going off when they play it’s a sin clips???? the censorship is real."While a fourth posed the question "Why do bafta keep cutting out the sound for it’s a sin #BAFTAS."Another wrote: "BAFTA muting the sound on the it’s a sin clips and nothing else is," which was followed by the eye emoji.

BAFTAs host Richard Ayoade joked that he only did the hosting job for "money" as he opened the show.The IT Crowd star, 44, spoke today (Sunday, May 8) as he took to the stage to kick off proceedings with a funny speech.Richard also joked that he "doesn't care" who won any of the night's awards and also said that "stars don't trust me".The ceremony marked a return to a full glitz and glamour in-person event, after the awards were disrupted for two years by the pandemic.Comedian, presenter and Richard hosted the event, which celebrated the depth of talent across Britain's TV industry, for the third consecutive year.However, he also joked that this would be his last time hosting the show.Presenters at the star-studded ceremony included Michelle Keegan, Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood, Giovanni Pernice, Lee Mack, Lorraine Kelly, Martin Freeman, Rochelle Humes, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Suranne Jones, Susanna Reid, Tom Daley and Oscar-winning actress Olivia Coleman.Mocking the back-slapping nature of awards ceremonies, Richard cheekily added: "Nobody works harder than stars. Ant McPartlin branded Stephen Mulhern a "dirty lobster" after the funny-man interrupted his acceptance speech at the 2022 TV BAFTAs.Stephen joined Ant and Declan Donnelly on-stage after they won the award for Entertainment programme for Saturday Night Takeaway.As Ant and Dec started sharing their thanks, Stephen poked his head through in between them and thanked the crowd.Ant turned round and told him: "We'll get to you, you dirty lobster!"He was actually referencing a scene from the show in which Stephen had dressed as a bright red lobster, but he called him it again towards the end of their speech.When they finally got going, Ant said: "What a great start to the night!"Dec confessed they were "convinced they weren't going to get it this year" so had "just come for a party".He went on: "This is a really wonderful cherry on the cake, this is for season 17 of Saturday Night Takeaway which we did with no studio audience."The Geordie lad explained they'd wondered whether "anyone was watching" at home, because of the strange way the show was being filmed due to the Covid pandemic.Ant told the audience: "We still love doing it."And then stepped aside for "one last word from the dirty lobster".Stephen then popped up between Ant and Dec again and added: "Thank you guys!"This is a live TV story and is being constantly updated.
