wanted man with the highest-ever bounty set by US Marshals has finally been captured after six years on the run. Raymond 'RJ' McLeod, 36, was found working as an English teacher in the city of Sonsonate, El Salvador.US Marshals and Salvadoran authorities arrested him at around 4.30pm on Monday (August 29).READ MORE: Man posing as police officer on dating app 'kidnaps and rapes woman for two days'The former Marine and bodybuilder was added to the US Marshals' list of 15 'Most Wanted' individuals in April 2021 for the alleged murder of his girlfriend Krystal Mitchell, 30, in June 2016.A $50,000 (£42,900) reward was offered as an award for information leading to his arrest, which is double the usual amount.
Mitchell was found strangled to death in an apartment the pair were staying at in San Diego while visiting McLeod's friends.
The night before they had visited a bar where McLeod got into an argument with another man, also an ex-Marine, leading to all three being kicked out.
McLeod and Mitchell returned to the rental apartment and Mitchell was found dead the next day. There were clear signs of a struggle.The ex-Marine then went on the run through Mexico and into Central America.
