Arsene Wenger once claimed there were “a lot of positives” to take from Arsenal’s catastrophic 4-4 draw at Newcastle United. The legendary Gunners boss made the outrageous claim after a meltdown saw his side squander a 4-0 lead at St James’ Park only to draw 4-4 during the 2010/11 season.

Arsenal had quickly asserted their dominance, with Theo Walcott, Johan Djourou and Robin van Persie’s brace seemingly putting the game out of reach after 26 minutes. But the north Londoners were in for one of the biggest shocks in recent history.

They were left completely shell-shocked in the second-half, with the trigger being Abou Diaby’s red card for violent conduct following a Joey Barton horror challenge. Two penalties and a Leon Best goal set it up perfectly heading into the final three minutes of play, before Cheick Tiote thundered in a last-gasp long-ranged strike to send the stadium into a frenzy.

And despite losing out on two points in the most shocking fashion, Wenger remained as cryptic as ever with his post-match thoughts.Wenger told Sky Sports: “It was a good game with top intensity and overall I must say we played great football and we have to take a lot of positives out of this game.Do you think Arsenal's 4-4 draw at Newcastle is the biggest bottle-job in Premier League history?
