Paul Merson believes the current coronavirus outbreak could hand Alexis Sanchez a second chance at Manchester United. Sanchez departed Old Trafford to join Inter Milan on loan in the summer, having scored just five goals for the Reds since completing his switch to the club in January 2018 from Arsenal.
But life at the San Siro hasn’t been much better for the forward, who has made just 15 appearances, scoring once, so far this season.
Sanchez now looks set to return to Old Trafford this summer, and despite United being open to a permanent sale, Merson feels that the after effects of the Covid-19 outbreak will mean clubs will be unable to spend big in the upcoming transfer window, and as result, Sanchez could be handed another lifeline.
