Arlene Foster’s future as leader of the DUP looks uncertain after a coordinated move against her. But the party insisted questions about her leadership were an internal matter.
The party said its democratic electoral processes were a matter for the membership amid reports that a significant number of elected representatives have signed a letter of no confidence in Mrs Foster.
Ms Foster tonight pulled out of a planned meeting with Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis as speculation over her future mounted.
She and deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill were due to have talks with Mr Lewis at 5.30pm. It is understood the DUP leader pulled out of the engagement at around 5pm.
