Storm Arwen blew into Manchester last night bringing strong gusts of wind, rain and wintry showers. The city centre took a battering, with a road in the Northern Quarter was closed after winds blew wooden boards onto parked cars, while trees were toppled over in other areas of Greater Manchester.
Many residents woke up to a covering of snow on Saturday morning as a chill sets in over the weekend. There is a yellow weather warning in place for the region for strong winds until 6pm tonight, although the worst of the storm is over.
