Apple Watch called emergency services and saved his life, according to police. The man, who fell off his e-bike and sustained a heavy head injury, was found unconscious on the road by police who were phoned by the Apple Watch.Using its high-tech sensors, the Apple Watch detected that the man had fallen off his bike and called 911.
Siri told the police, "Owner of this watch has taken a hard fall" with his location. The man was bleeding from the head and treated by officers before being transported to hospital.
He was then released several days later. The life-saving intervention marks one of the first times the Apple Watch has been able to save someone from serious injury after an accident, thanks to a recent update to the smart watch's fall detection feature. If you have an Apple Watch SE or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later and it detects you've had a hard fall, it will tap you on the wrist, sound an alarm and show an alert.
If it then detects that you haven't moved for about a minute, it will automatically call the emergency services. The watch will then message your emergency contacts with your location.Setting up fall detection on your Apple Watch is easy enough.
