Antiques Roadshow guest snubs expert by saying medal 'worth more' than valuation

Antiques Roadshow guests are often given huge surprises when they ask for their belongings to be valued on the hit BBC show.But one man decided to completely snub an expert’s valuation on last week’s episode, due to the importance of the item to his family.The man brought along a silver medal that belonged to his great great grandfather which had an incredible backstory.His relative was just 14 when he signed up to be a lifeboat volunteer and rescued 20 men off the coast off North Wales.The ship in question was likely Swedish and, after being rescued in 1889, the crew gifted him the medal.Analysing the artefact and just how incredible the rescue was, expert Mark Smith said: “We’re talking about lifeboats that are drawn by horses out to.
