Amber Heard has claimed she has been branded a “liar” during the Johnny Depp trial because her former husband is a bigger star.

Depp is suing his ex missus for $50m (£40.1m) over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed, where he alleges she was a victim of domestic abuse. The Pirates of the Caribbean star was not named in the article but claims the allegations impacted his ability to work.On May 16, Heard’s claimed charity donation of the divorce settlement she reached with Depp was discussed in the court. It came after Heard claimed in 2018 on her appearance on TV show RTL Late Night she had paid half of her $7m (£5.6m) divorce settlement to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) charity. The charity have told how they have not yet to receive the donation.Defending herself, Heard told the court she has “not been able to fulfil those obligations yet”.Her ex husband's lawyer then quizzed her if her announcement was due to wanting “praise”, “good press” and to “seem altruistic publicly”.The Aquaman star replied: “That wasn’t my interest.”She went on to insist she made her declaration to prevent her being accused of being called a liar due to her screen credentials not being as notable as Depp's.Heard said: “My interest is in my name – in clearing my name.

At the time, I was being called a ‘liar’ and my motives were being questioned. I did see it as important to clear that up.” “I wanted to make a statement to make sure there was not any doubt.

That I couldn’t be labelled these things just because Johnny was the bigger star and had more publicity reach.”She also hinted that rumours were correct that her hostile relations with Depp had impacted her role in the Aquaman sequel.
