Boris Johnson has confirmed that step three of the roadmap out of lockdown will go ahead on May 17. The next stage of lockdown easing will see a return to international leisure travel, indoor hospitality and larger social gatherings.

The prime minister told a Downing Street press briefing this afternoon that all four of the government's tests for relaxing lockdown rules are currently being met and the infection rate in the UK is at its lowest since September.

Today's announcement is good news for hospitality venues, which will be allowed to serve indoors, and other entertainment and leisure venues that will be reopening for the first time since at least January.
