5G will make flying less safe, after the heads of Boeing and Airbus called on the US government to delay the roll-out of the new network system.
The CEOs of Boeing and Airbus wrote to Joe Biden's Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg asking him to postpone the deployment of a new 5G wireless networks by mobile providers AT&T and Verizon in January.The aeroplane companies claim that 5G signals could disrupt key equipment used by planes because the radio waves used by 5G are similar to those used by plane altimeters, which track altitude.This could lead to flight delays when there's bad weather and even landing issues in low visibility.
