Joseph Michael Kramer (born June 21, 1950) is the American drummer for the hard rock band Aerosmith. Kramer was born and raised into a Jewish family. He has become a born again Christian.
Kramer was born in the Bronx, New York City, the son of Doris and Mickey Kramer, a businessman. His memoir, Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top, was released on June 30, 2009. Kramer is credited with originating the name Aerosmith.
Aerosmith have signed a new deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) that will license the entirety of their recorded output as well as personal archives.The veteran rockers were formerly under Sony’s Columbia Records, and later UMG’s Geffen Records, for much of their early career in the ’70s and up to the ’90s.
Now UMG will be home to the band’s complete catalogue, which will also include audio-visual projects.Fans will likely be most excited about forthcoming access to the “Vindaloo Vaults”, the personal archives of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford.
