The latest report on North Lanarkshire Council’s environmental performance has highlighted the need for additional investment if targets are to be met.The report, which provides figures for greenhouse gas emissions generated by the local authority’s activities over the past year, notes that although now at half of the peak seen in 2017/2018, the current level of around 60,000 tonnes has been similar to the recordings since 2020.The report states: "It is clear that over the past four years the organisation’s emissions have plateaued, and it is believed that this is consistent with other public bodies.
This suggests an upscale in effort including financial resources is required to meet the council’s climate change duties.”The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
