However, in 2019, the duo split and released a statement that appeared to indicate the two would remain friends and creative partners — but that was far from the case.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, McKay revealed that it was a casting decision that ultimately drove a wedge between the two, despite Ferrell previously suggesting.
