A senior citizen of Aberfeldy who fought to save the local RBS bank closing has died aged 94. Born in September 1927, Merril Atkinson Sylvester (nee Brady) died peacefully on November 14.
When in January 2018 the Aberfeldy community gathered to protest at the loss of the Royal Bank of Scotland from a key site in the town square, Merril and her dog were prominent activists.
In fact arguably more notice was taken of her spaniel - holding a protest placard in its mouth - than of the politicians trying to make the same point.This week, hundreds of locals responded with messages of sympathy to a notice from local funeral directors Gaulds that Merril recently passed.
