Salford has seen a surge in housebuilding over the last decade but the city still struggles to offer a mix of housing, at affordable prices and a sufficient spread.Nearly 90pc of all new homes built in Salford last year were apartments in Ordsall, around the Quays and along the borough's border with Manchester.A total of 3,867 homes were completed in the city between April 2019 and March 2020, according to the council's calculations – 3,419 of them were flats.The Ordsall ward, the area immediately to the west of Manchester city centre, accounted for 3,034 of the new homes – and all but 29 were apartments.Irwell Riverside, which includes the Crescent, Charlestown and Broad Street, had the second highest number of new homes with 365 –.
